(Minimum Coverage)
- Property /
🔥 English Version
One of the most common lines I hear as an insurance professional:
“Just give me the cheapest policy.”
But in reality—
The cheapest policy often becomes the MOST expensive when something happens.
Here’s why:
1️⃣ Cheap policies = low coverage limits
A low premium usually means:
- Minimum state liability limits
- High deductibles
- Important coverages excluded
- Property/auto limits far below actual repair cost
When a real accident happens:
- Someone gets injured → your limits run out
- Your house is damaged → payout is far below cost
- You get sued → your policy doesn’t include legal defense
You saved $20–50/month but lost $5,000–$50,000 in one incident.
2️⃣ Cheaper policies have more exclusions and fine print
Budget policies often include:
- More limitations
- More “not covered” situations
- More details hidden in fine print
Examples:
- Fire is covered… but electrical fire is excluded
- Accident is covered… but not if someone else was driving your car
- Home is covered… but water backup is excluded
Clients often say:
“I thought this was covered.”
But insurers will answer:
“Not under the basic plan you purchased.”
3️⃣ Claims reveal the truth—cheap policies cost the most
Typical situation:
✔ Before the accident
“I’m smart. I’m saving money.”
✔ After the accident
“Wait… THAT isn’t covered?”
Cheap insurance becomes the most expensive lesson.
