因為在討論「能不能成為護士」之前，你必須先知道一件事：
當護士是一個「受州政府監管的專業職業」
第一層問題：Undocumented 能念護理嗎？
有些州的 Community College 不會查移民身份。
所以在某些情況下：
- 可以申請學校
- 可以修 prerequisite
- 甚至可能完成護理學程
但念得到書 ≠ 當得成護士。
第二層問題：可以考執照嗎？
護理執照由各州 Board of Nursing 核發。
大多數州要求：
- 合法 Social Security Number（SSN）
- 合法居留或工作資格
- 通過 NCLEX
如果沒有 SSN 或合法身份，很多州根本無法核發執照。
第三層問題：即使考到執照，可以工作嗎？
答案更關鍵：
沒有合法工作權，不能合法受雇。
醫院、診所、療養院都必須驗證 I-9 表格。
- 需要合法工作文件
- 需要可驗證的身分
- 需要背景審查
護理屬於高度監管產業，幾乎不可能「私下現金工作」。
為什麼這條路風險極高？
- 花 2–4 年讀書
- 投入大量學費與時間
- 最後可能無法合法工作
這不是能力問題，是法律問題。
有沒有例外？
極少數情況，例如：
- DACA（仍有效的情況下）
- 特殊人道或庇護身份
- 後續身份轉換成功
但這些都不是「讀護理自然發生」。

Before asking whether undocumented immigrants can become nurses, you must understand one thing:
Nursing is a state-regulated, licensed profession.
Layer 1: Can Undocumented Individuals Study Nursing?
Some community colleges do not verify immigration status for enrollment.
In certain states, undocumented students may:
- Apply to school
- Complete prerequisite courses
- Even finish a nursing program
But studying does not equal practicing.
Layer 2: Can They Obtain a Nursing License?
Nursing licenses are issued by each state’s Board of Nursing.
Most states require:
- A valid Social Security Number (SSN)
- Legal presence or work eligibility
- Passing the NCLEX exam
Without an SSN or legal status, many states will not issue a license.
Layer 3: Even With a License, Can They Work?
Without legal work authorization, lawful employment is not possible.
Healthcare employers must complete federal I-9 verification.
- Valid work documents are required
- Identity must be verifiable
- Background checks are standard
Nursing is highly regulated and not a typical cash-based job sector.
Why Is This Path So Risky?
- 2–4 years of education
- Significant tuition investment
- Possible inability to work legally
This is not about ability—it is about immigration law.
Are There Exceptions?
Rare cases may include:
- DACA (if still valid)
- Certain humanitarian statuses
- Later successful status adjustment
But these are not automatic outcomes of studying nursing.
