🟢 1. 可以合法睡車的地方（大多數城市允許）

  • Walmart、Cracker Barrel、Cabela’s（需詢問 Manager）
    🚐 很多 Vanlife 的人會停在這些 24 小時店，但要主動詢問。
  • 24 小時健身房停車場（Planet Fitness、24 Hr Fitness）
    🌙 要有會員卡，通常不會管你。
  • 高速公路休息站（Rest Area）
    ⏱ 多數州允許休息 8 小時，但不能「長期停放」。
  • Bureau of Land Management（BLM）土地
    🌲 免費停、免費睡，合法又舒服。
  • Campgrounds（合法營地）
    🔥 最安全、最不會被打擾的選擇。

🔴 2. 絕對不要睡車的地方（100% 容易被敲窗）

  • 住宅區街邊（Neighborhood Street）
    🚫 這是被警察敲窗的 No.1 地點。
  • 學校停車場、教會停車場
    🚓 會被視為「可疑」、100% 被敲窗。
  • 商場 / Mall 停車場
    ⛔ 巡邏保全一定會拍照→報警→敲窗。

⚠️ 3. 警察什麼時候會敲窗？（真實規則）

警察通常敲窗的三大原因：

  • 🚨 你停在禁止 overnight parking 的區域
  • 👀 有鄰居打電話檢舉
  • 🕵️ 你的車看起來像「有人常住」（窗簾、太陽能板、雜物過多）

被敲窗不是犯罪，也不會被逮捕。
通常是警察叫你換地方停。

  • 🕛 晚到→早走，不引人注意

🟢 1. Places where sleeping in your car is usually legal

  • Walmart, Cracker Barrel, Cabela’s — Ask the manager.
  • 24-hour gyms (Planet Fitness, 24 Hour Fitness) — Safe if you’re a member.
  • Highway Rest Areas — Allowed for short rest (not long-term).
  • BLM Land — Legal, spacious, and quiet.
  • Campgrounds — Safest and fully legal.

🔴 2. Places you should NEVER sleep (police will knock)

  • Neighborhood streets — No.1 police knock location.
  • School & church parking lots
  • Mall parking lots
  • Downtown streets — Cameras + heavy patrol.

⚠️ 3. When do police knock?

  • 🚨 You’re parked in a “No Overnight Parking” zone
  • 👀 Someone reported your vehicle as suspicious
  • 🕵️ Your van looks like long-term occupancy (curtains, solar panel, clutter)

Being knocked is not a crime. Police usually just ask you to move.
